Buhari flags off oil drilling in Gombe


The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has flagged off oil drilling in Gombe State, in the northern part of the country.

According to a post made on the social media page of the corporation, spud-in is the beginning of the drilling of an oil well by a rig targeting a prospective reservoir and that is what the President has just done in the state.

BREAKING: History is made as President @MBuhari just performed the Presidential Flag-off of the Spud-in of the Kolmani River Well-II at the Gongola Basin, Upper Benue Trough.

In simple terms, Spud-in is the beginning of the drilling of an oil well by a rig targeting a prospective reservoir.


Also in attendance are Govs Mohammed A. Abubakar & Ibrahim H. Dankwambo of Bauchi & Gombe States respectively. There are 6 wells in the Kolmani Area, located within the two states. One of the wells, Kolmani River Well-II will be spud-in by Pres @MBuharitoday
