A surgeon pushed his ex-wife off cliff then managed her
Facebook profile for months to make people believe she’s still alive.
According to the police, Dr Dharmendra Pratap Singh allegedly pushed his ex-wife, Rakhi Srivastava, off a cliff and for the following seven months updated her social media to avoid suspicion of murder.
Rakhi Srivastava went missing in June shortly after she remarried following her split from Dr Singh. After her disappearance, her new husband was the suspect but police in Gorakhpur, India, detained Singh and two alleged associates, Pramod Kumar Singh and Deshdeepak Nishad, on Friday.
Cops say Dr Singh sedated Ms Srivastava and killed her. He then regularly changed her Facebook status on her phone to deceive people into thinking she’s still alive.
However, her phone was found in October and this made Dr Singh a prime suspect, a police source said.
The investigation into the disappearance of Ms Srivastava continues and her family has made an emotional plea for more information.
