Debtor bites off ear of creditor in Enugu (graphic photo)



A creditor who turned up for his money in Enugu State, had his right ear bitten off by a debtor in a fight that occurred shortly after he arrived.




It was gathered that the creditor had gone to demand for his money from the debtor who has been owing him for a long time. However he got a fight instead, and his right ear which got bitten off was reattached at a local hospital in the area.

This is coming few weeks after it was reported that the police in Ekiti State arraigned a 35-year-old man, Seun Adeleye, at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening his creditor. The defendant, of no fixed address, stood for trial on a two-count charge of owing debt and threat to life.

Prosecutor Johnson Okunade told the court the defendant committed the offence on January 2 in Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti. He alleged the defendant owed the complainant, Mr. Adesola Aderemi, N672,000 by managing his hotel, with a promise to remit N30,000 every Monday, which he failed to do.

Okunade also alleged the defendant threatened the complainant he would kill him if he asked for his money. He said the offences contravened sections 421 and 96 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses. The defendant pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Mr. Emmanuel Sumonu, urged the court to grant him bail, promising he will not jump bail. Chief Magistrate Mr. Adesoji Adegboye granted bail to the defendant at N200,000 with two sureties.
