A dramatic incident took place at a Makomo primary school pupil in
Epworth area of Zimbabwe after a student allegedly turned into a
snake-like creature after he was provoked by his classmates. The alleged
incident happened yesterday morning at the school when the pupils were
in the school garden, according to H-metro.
Narrating the incident, pupils of the school said the grade five
boy got angry and fell on the ground where he turned into half snake
half human creature.
“He had the head of a human and the body of a snake,” one of the pupils said.
Sources said when the incident occurred the boy’s classmates took
to their heels and fled the school seeking refuge at their respective
homes where they informed their parents of what had transpired.
However, Makomo primary school development committee chairperson,
Peter Mudzengerere said the boy was just angry, but did not change into a
snake as was being alleged.
“The child in question is of ill-health. So when he gets sick
he starts behaving in a funny way. Whenever he is provoked by others he
roars like a lion. From what I heard he did not change into a snake, but
he was so angry that he made a very strange face that his fellow pupils
got scared and ran away going home.
"He is in grade five and he has since been moved away from the
rest of the pupils so that they will not make fun of him or come up with
different stories. He was in the garden with his fellow classmates and I
guess he was provoked. He could have made a strange face and scared
them away.
"This is about the fifth time that this has happened. Today
some parents from different churches came and prayed for him. This is
our school and it is our duty as parents to sort out such issues. We
will have a meeting with parents this Saturday so that we discuss the
issue,” he said.
The incident forced parents to withdraw their children from the school to avoid 'contamination' from the boy.

Speaking to H-Metro, one of the parents said: “All I want is my
grade 2 child who is in the school. I do not understand why they have
closed the gate. Who is going to protect my child?
“Now they have resorted to dispersing us using teargas yet all
we want are our children. Manje hatibvi pano vasati vatipa vana vedu,”
fumed the worried mother. Another parent, a father to a Grade 3 pupil,
echoed the same sentiments adding that it was not the first time such an
incident had happened.
“What is surprising is that it is not the first time this has
happened. It has happened plenty of times, but the school authorities
have done nothing about it.”
As a parent I get worried for my child because I do not know how safe she is.
“The headmaster should give us access to our children so that
we take them home because we are scared. “That child should be
transferred from the school because we cannot continue risking the
security of our children.” he said.
The parents, who mobbed the school entrance, were dispersed by the
police who fired teargas canisters at them. However, they were not quick
to go away as they were still lingering around the school in their
numbers shouting and demanding to have their children released. Some
said they were scared that the school authorities were condoning
Satanism as they were failing to take action on the boy’s weird actions.
